Jamie Whitaker:

Happy Tuesday! This is Jamie, and you're listening to the To Do San Francisco podcast for January 13th, 2026. Please do me a favor and share this podcast on your socials where other San Franciscans will see it. Today's song stuck in my head is Jimmy Cliff singing I Can See Clearly Now. I link to a music video for the song on YouTube in the show notes. It's a great one. Today's act of kindness, letting someone go ahead of you, whether it's in traffic, in line, or in conversation, and doing it with patience and a smile. If you're looking for one of the most refreshing outdoor escapes in San Francisco, let's head to the Presidio Tunnel Tops Park, a place where green space, history, and jaw dropping views all come together. Opened in 2022, Tunnel Tops sits right on top of the Presidio Parkway tunnels, reconnecting the Main Post to Crissy Field with rolling lawns, walking paths, picnic tables, and some of the best Golden Gate bridge views in the city. It's a perfect spot for families, solo strolls, sunset watching, or just laying out on the grass with a coffee. Just a short downhill walk from tunnel tops tucked near Crissy Field, you'll find one of the Presidio's most quietly moving places. The Presidio Pet Cemetery. This small, historic site dates back to the 1950s and is filled with handmade headstones honoring beloved pets of military families who once lived there. It's peaceful, a little unexpected, and a reminder of the personal stories woven into this national park. If you keep heading up Lincoln Boulevard, you'll reach Battery Bluff Park, a lesser known gem perched above the water. This compact overlook offers sweeping views of the bay, the Palace of Fine Arts dome, and passing boats below. It's a great pause point, less crowded, more serene, and perfect if you want a moment to breathe and take it all in. And getting here couldn't be easier thanks to the Prasidio GO Shuttle, which is completely free to ride. The shuttle runs multiple routes through the Presidio and connects to downtown, making it a stress-free way to explore without worrying about parking. I'll put links to the Presidio GO website in the show notes. Whether you're in the mood for play, reflection, or scenery, this stretch of the Presidio delivers it all in one beautiful afternoon. Take a Bay Bridge breathing break. Inhale for four, exhale for six three times. Wherever today takes you, trust that you're exactly where you need to be, keep showing up with curiosity, kindness, and confidence.
