Hi there, this is Jamie, and you're listening to the To-Do San Francisco podcast for Thursday, February 26, 2026. We are officially on the downhill slope toward the weekend, and I want to start our day by leaning into a little bit of intentional optimism. It's easy to get caught up in the rush of the city, but today try to look for the glimmers, those tiny moments of peace or beauty, like the way the sun hits the Trans america Pyramid or that first perfect sip of caffeine. When we decide the day is going to be good, we usually find the evidence to prove ourselves right. So take a deep breath, drop those shoulders, and let's make it a great one. Now if you're looking for a great place to find one of those glimmers today, you've got to head over to the Marina District and visit the Chestnut Diner, located right at 1312 Chestnut Street, on the first block in from Van Ness Avenue. This spot is the definition of a neighborhood classic with a modern soul. They are open and ready to welcome you from 7 30 a.m. until 2 p.m. So whether you're looking for a sunrise scramble or a later brunch comfort meal, they've got a booth waiting for you. Now let's talk about the menu because it is honestly hard to choose a favorite. If you're there for breakfast, you absolutely cannot miss their lemon ricotta pancakes. They're light, fluffy, and have just enough cest to wake up your palate. If you're stopping by for brunch, the star of the show is definitely the Marina Melt. It's a grown-up grilled cheese with caramelized onions and a secret logic-defying sauce that I'm personally convinced makes everything in life better. It's the kind of food that feels like a warm hug, which is exactly what a Thursday requires. Getting there is probably the easiest part of your day, so leave the car at home. You can hop on the 30 Stockton bus from downtown or further north, which drops you off just a short walk away, or take advantage of the 49 Van Ness Bus Rapid Transit line for a quick and smooth ride into the neighborhood. It's a stress-free commute to a very high reward meal. An omelet is a great idea at any time if you're a little lost on the menu. Before I let you go and tackle your to-do list, I want to leave you with a small tip for navigating our streets today. Let's practice the three second rule of civility. When you're getting off the bus or leaving the diner, take just three seconds to hold the door for the person behind you or give a quick thank you to your driver. It's a tiny gesture, but in a city as busy as ours, those small beats of human connection are what keep the gears turning smoothly. Have a fantastic Thursday, stay kind to one another, and I'll be back in your ears tomorrow.
