Aloha! This is Jamie, and you're listening to the To Do San Francisco podcast for Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. The song in my mind today is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. I have a link to the music video on YouTube in the show notes. So how's that new month energy treating you so far? If Monday felt like a bit of a scramble, remember that Tuesday is where the real momentum happens. There's a specific kind of magic in the ordinary workday. Today isn't about the grand opening or the big finale, it's about the steady progress. My thought for you this morning is this: don't mistake slow for stagnant. Even if you're just moving an inch today, you're still further along than you were yesterday. Keep that chin up. We're just getting started. If you find yourself in the financial district today and your soul is crying out for something a little more island time and a little less spreadsheet time, I have the ultimate comfort destination for you. We are heading over to L&L Hawaiian Barbecue at 412 Kearny Street. Now, L&L is a legend for a reason. It's the home of the authentic Hawaiian plate lunch, and the Kearny Street spot is a staple for anyone who needs a heavy hitting, delicious escape from the office cubicle. Here is what you're grabbing for lunch. You can try the barbecue mix plate. If you can't decide, don't. This is the greatest hits reel featuring barbecue beef, barbecue chicken, and short ribs. It comes with those iconic two scoops of white rice and that world famous creamy macaroni salad. Seriously, that max salad is a hug in a cardboard container. Try the chicken katsu. This is arguably their most popular item. Crispy, deep fried breaded chicken served with their signature savory katsu sauce. It's crunch therapy at its finest. Then there's the Loco Moco, a true island classic, savory hamburger patties over rice topped with fried eggs and smothered in rich brown gravy. It is the definitive I have a long afternoon ahead of me and I need fuel meal. Try a spam musubi. You cannot walk out of L & L without a spam musubi in your hand. It's the perfect handheld snack, grilled spam and rice, wrapped in nori. It's the San Francisco commuter's best friend. It's fast, it's generous, and it brings a little bit of that eight oh eight spirit to the four hundred fifteen. Mahalo. For today's civility tip, let's talk about a classic San Francisco scenario, the crowded elevator or the Muni Doors. In our rush to get to that meeting or grab our katsu, we often forget the basic physics of people flow. Today's tip is simple. Always step aside to let people out of the elevator or the bus or the subway train before you try to get in. Whether it's an elevator in that high rise or the N-judah at Powell station at rush hour, creating that space for others makes the whole city run a little smoother. It's a tiny act of spatial benevolence that lowers everyone's blood pressure just a notch. Good luck out there. Go get yourself some extra mac salad, hold the door for a stranger, and make today count. Thanks for listening, San Francisco.
